No London property extends more effectively than a 1930’s semi and this build was no exception. Significant spans meant a very careful engineering scheme to ensure that the large steels and joists required did not detract from the finished internal head height. This loft was the finishing touch to an extensive renovation and the clients could not have been happier with the result. We completely re-roofed the property and within the front bonnet hid an in-house designed mains water pressure boosting system to overcome issues from being on the apex of a hill in an area with notoriously low water pressure. Inherited plans were totally re-drawn to allow for a huge “his and hers” wardrobe area, a 3.5m sliding German door system with laminated glass Juliet balcony, a small library area over the staircase with a huge hidden storage area tucked behind it, the latest Daikin air-conditioning and finally, an enormous wet room finished with tiles sourced directly from Spain incorporating 15 unique designs within one colorway. And this time there was no choice but to crane in the 140kg stone bath from Lusso, one so incredibly comfortable that the airborne delivery was worth every penny. Finally, we clad the entire rear structure in Siberian larch and hand torched it on site. We loved building this loft and the clients love living in it.
